Once upon a time fashion was considered as exclusively feminine thing. Men in so far as fashion only cares about it in a utilitarian perspective- maybe save for the nobility before since clothing is an essential part of their identity. But times have changed. People are more and more liberalized and so men have become integral in the fashion world. More and more men are involved and particular about what they wear especially their basic article of clothing- mens t-shirts. In fact, solid colored shirts and button down shirts are considered staples for a man’s wardrobe.
A long time ago, shirts were usually inner wears of men hence it used to be typically white and it fits just right to accommodate the contours of the male’s body. But mens t-shirts have accommodated the changing trends in fashion and just like every other women’s clothing there are different styles and designs for each season. For instance, there was a time when men were advised to wear plain or solid colored shirts. There was also a time when striped ones were “in.” Most of the time the very trends in women’s shirt are the same with the men’s only that sometimes they don’t come together at the same time. For example when the talking tees and statement shirts became the hot thing for women to wear, the men followed suit. The only problem in this kind of shirts (those with designs and different prints) is that they can get outdated easily. And this can be a very bad thin for men who do not regularly shop for clothes well a lot of them used to be just like that until after the metrosexuals were born.
Another example would be the variety of shirt sizes and how they fit to the body. Before the only consideration for shirt sizes is if its width and length is enough or exact for the person to move about comfortably. But it has become a major consideration for men nowadays. For instance, there was a time when shirts have to be just right for the body. And then suddenly baggy and lose ones has become the thing. And lately, fitted shirts have been popular to show the physique of a person. But fashion per se, is not just the reason for these different trends. Sometimes, it’s also affected by the preferences of the person wearing it. Like for example, rappers and those who like this genre tends to imitate the baggy styles of shirts that rappers wear. For those who love going to gyms, fitted shirts are the hot thing for them since they get to show their buff bodies. Also, it can also be affected by the profession of the person- like models, artists and actors.
Mens t-shirts are really universal and very useful for guys. They can wear it at home, at work, and at night outs. Shirts can be worn as the base layer in clothing, but it can also be the only thing that men wear. Most importantly, shirts can show vanity, tastes, preferences, image and belief. It can definitely affect the image of a man.
